Welcome back to another exciting year of Newport Football!
First, it's truly an honor and a privilege for me to be a part of a school so rich in tradition. I feel very fortunate to be at Newport High School. After coming off of a great run at State in 2010, led by a large Senior class, we return only (3) starters. And this year's team has worked really hard in the off-season to make another run State!
Many know we lost our beloved coach, Tim Driver, the night of the Bothell game. It's been a difficult time for everyone, buth through this, we have become a closer Team and have learned to press on during difficult circumstances. Coach Driver would be proud. Tim was an inspiration to all of us and for that reason, we will dedicate the remainder of the season to his honor. Rest in peach Coach.
I am so pleased with the direction and growth of our Program. From the rookie youth level all the way up through the Varsity high school level, we have grown to over (330) athletes. Players at every level are learning important fundamentals, developing a love for the game, and most importantly learning life lessons taught through the game of football. It's a great time to be a Knight!
Lastly, I would like to thank the parents and local community, including our Jr. Knights system, who provide tremendous support to our Program. You are all part of the Newport Football Family and I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of you for your unwavering commitment to helping our Team reach its goals.
Sincerely,
Mike Miller
